On Friday evening, we received notice from our water testing company that the fecal coliform levels in our lake did not conform to state standards for safe swimming. The count was 270 per 100ml. To be considered acceptable, the level may not exceed 200 organisms per 100 ml. Signs were posted at the beach according to health department guidelines.
A new test was ordered, and performed on Monday. The results from that test have arrived. The level of fecal coliform has dropped to under 10 organisms per 100ml, which meets the acceptable standard. Therefore, the beach has been reopened.
